Does it ever feel like the to-do list is never ending?
Whether you are at work or at home it can feel like you’re constantly fighting fires and putting the needs of others above yourself?
So where is there a moment for you to pause? To check in with yourself and see where your energy levels are at?
Understanding your energy needs can feel almost impossible if you aren’t able to check in with yourself throughout the week…
Yet, there are ways to preserve and even amplify your energy while fulfilling your commitments and nurturing those around you.
Let’s take a look at a few steps you can take to start balancing your energy and making sure you have enough left in your cup to lead an extraordinary life.
Potential and Energy
Ever noticed that your most energised moments often align with your greatest potential? Your energy feeds your potential and vice versa. Imagine your potential as a wellspring of energy, a constant source that you can tap into. All it takes is a conscious effort to spark that ignition.
But how do you kindle that spark, especially when the world demands your attention and care?
It's about understanding the dynamics of your energy and adopting nurturing practices.
Meditation
Taking even a few minutes daily to sit in stillness can work wonders.
Meditation not only clears the mind but also allows your energy to flow freely. It's like a reset button, bringing you back to your core essence.
As the Zen proverb says, "We should sit in meditation for 20 minutes a day, but if you’re too busy, you should sit for an hour."
Love Instead of Not Stress
Last year my son suffered an injury and was unable to play football. This was a huge setback for him as he prepared for his potential draft year this year. However, I wanted to make sure that he didn’t get lost in a world of stress.
Because when he shifted his thinking away from how stressful the situation was and instead treating his recovery process with love and compassion he actually started to feel better much quicker. This shift in mindset not only allowed him to have a more positive outlook on the experience but also helped him to recover faster.
Nourishment and Play
When we think of nourishment our mind automatically gravitates towards food.
But when we look at nourishment in the context of energy it's about feeding your soul with experiences that uplift you. Engaging in activities that bring you joy, spending time with loved ones, or immersing yourself in creativity nourishes your energy at its core.
Play, often overlooked in adulthood, is a vital ingredient. It's an avenue to tap into childlike wonder, revitalising your spirit and replenishing your energy well.
Journaling
I honestly don’t understand how people can survive in this world without journaling, it has become such an important part of my morning or evening ritual.
Journaling is more than just pen and paper; it's an opportunity to lay down some cognitive load.
At the end of a busy day, pouring your thoughts onto paper clears mental clutter, leaving you ready to embrace the new day with fresh energy. It's a ritual that creates space for renewal.
The combination of meditation, journaling, nourishment, and play acts as a holistic approach to nurturing your energy. It's a reminder that self-care isn't selfish; it's a prerequisite for being the best version of yourself, both for you and for those you care for.
Because ultimately, when you care for your energy, you're nurturing the very essence of your being. And from that nurturing, a life of boundless potential and opportunities becomes your lived reality.
